Larry Dotson Sr.

Larry Dotson Sr. “Poppy,” 74, of Charleston, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 in a local hospital surrounded by his family.

Larry was born on November 2, 1948 to Edward and Juanita Dotson in Sweetwater, TN. He was a Lead Mechanic at Duracell. He retired in 2001 after 26 years of service. He loved to hunt, especially with his son Larry Jr. Larry loved his family and his little dog Roxy. He was a kind and generous man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elizabeth Dotson; sisters Linda Dotson and Faye Dotson; brothers Jim Dotson, Joe Dotson, and Doug Dotson.

He is survived by his children: Larry Dotson Jr. (Rhonda), Candice Walker (Alan), Sonya Davis (Gary), Tina Maddux (Dennis), Michael Brown (Sherry); grandchildren: Nadia Dotson, Isabella Dotson, Kenny Brown, Colbie Mason, Raynor Maddux, Ethan Maddux, Cameron Davis, and Callie Kent; great grandchildren: Dylan Mason, Corbin Brown, and Davis Kent; brother and sister-in-law: Darrell and Mildred Dotson; sister Wilma Maddox and several nieces and nephews.

Larry’s family will receive friends from 3pm until 6pm on Friday July 14th at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow visitation at 6:00pm.
