Larry Don Cunningham

In the pre-dawn hours of September 10, 2022, Larry Don Cunningham, beloved husband and father, left his earthly body behind at the age of 71 and graduated to eternal life. He is survived by Martha Cunningham, his wife of 46 years, five children, Scott Cunningham (wife Shannon), Darian Cunningham (wife Carrie), Todd Huckabee (wife Samantha), Jessica Page (husband Michael), and Jason Cunningham (wife Melanie), as well as countless grandchildren (really, I tried) and seven great-grandchildren.

Don was born on September 26, 1950 in DeWitt, Arkansas to Cecil and Lucille Cunningham. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and worked as an industrial engineer for 33 years. Loved by his co-workers, Don once gave up his annual bonus so that those who worked under him would receive it instead. He loved his work and achieved mastery in his field.

Known for his dry sense of humor, exceptional taste in music, and fierce love for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Don was a quiet patriarch whose loyalty to his family was second to none. He was a man of simple faith and trusted his life and fate to his Heavenly Father. This heritage is now being carried out in his children and grandchildren.

Known as an avid reader, Don loved the works of Isaac Asimov and Clive Cussler. His favorite movie was Fargo, if that tells you anything about his sense of humor. He loved playing disc golf with his beloved Martha and walking on the beach together. In the last few years of his life, Don joined Rock Steady Boxing and became one of its most ardent enthusiasts. He was greatly loved by the instructors and his fellow teammates. Even when it became physically and mentally difficult, Don still wanted to show up and put on his boxing gloves. That tells you what kind of man he was.

Don’s celebration of life is being held at the Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland Tennessee on September 17th at 4pm (public viewing) and 6pm (memorial service).
