Larry Thomas Curry, age 72, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. Those who knew him will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and uncle who loved his family more than anything.
He was born on March 18th, 1952, in Rome, New York to the late Edward Lee and Willa Mae Curry. As the second oldest of eight brothers and sisters in a military family, he traveled around a lot in his younger days. He graduated from Layton High School in Layton, Utah in 1970 before joining the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana where he served for two years.
He later made his way to Cleveland, Tennessee, where he decided to make it his home after meeting his wife, best friend and soul mate, Dorisa Lynne Holmes Curry, while working together in 1975. They were married later that year and soon came along the children he loved so very much, son, Larry T. Curry II and daughter, Trinity L. Davis. He began working for the United States Postal Service in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1976 and retired 31 years later in 2007.
Larry will always be remembered for his big heart, his loving nature, and his will to have a good time. He always made those around him laugh and smile. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, dad, Pa, brother, or Big, and we will miss Larry every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. and Willa M. Curry, and brother Russell Curry, and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorisa Lynne Holmes Curry, his two children, son Larry T. Curry II (Whitney), and daughter Trinity L. Davis (Steve), his four grandchildren, Tyler Curry (Chase Ann), Ella Wagner (Isaac), Bryar Curry, and Lauren Davis, his brothers Terry, Hank, Tim and Chris, and his sisters Cassandra Booth and Kim Boggess.
The family is set to honor Larry's life and remembrance on Friday, September 20th, at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The service will start promptly at 2:30 pm (arrive by 2:15). Donations to American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
