Larry Wayne Cate, 72, of Cleveland, TN received his healing on Thursday, November 14, 2024, and is now celebrating in the presence of his savior.
He was born in Rossville, GA., and was a lifelong resident of Cleveland. He is the son of the late Ralph and Beatrice Redd Cate.
His greatest joy was taking trips to the mountains with the loves of his life, his wife Kathy, and his son Jeffrey. He loved to share stories and memories of old home places along the way. He was the family historian and enjoyed sharing all the memories of friends and family with everyone he met. He always looked forward to his hunting and fishing trips with his son and their special time together.
In addition to his mother and father, Wayne is preceded in death by his brothers Carl Cate, Charlie Cate and Donnie Ray Cate; his half-sister Virginia (Vergie) Cate Salvage; father and mother in-law Clyde and Lola Buckner; brothers-in-law Charles Buckner, Jack Buckner, David Buckner, Edward (Jr) Buckner, William Redd and Douglas McClure.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 53 years, Kathy Buckner Cate, his son Jeffrey Wayne Cate, daughter in-love Cayci Corvin, and grandson in-love John Corvin. Brothers Bill (Joyce) Cate, Ronnie Eugene (Cora) Cate, and Jerry Cate. Sisters Betty Jo Bowman and Mary Louise Anderson. Brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Ethel Slaughter, sisters-in-law Reba Cate, Hazel Redd, Charlotte McClure, May Buckner and Margaret Buckner and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
Waynes family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Ridge Chapel of Companion Funeral & Cremation service. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 pm with burial to follow at Earl's Cemetery.
