Landon "Marty" Near

Landon Martin (Marty) Near II of Cleveland, TN left his earthly body for his heavenly home with Jesus Christ his Savior Monday April 29, 2024.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Bea and Jerry Gorbett; paternal grandparents Betty and Francis Near; Uncle Larry and Gabrielle Gorbett; god-mother Sharon Matthews.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory parents Lanny and Mary Ann Near; sisters Molly Near and Jeri Near-Botts (Matt), nephews Zach Near, Braxton Botts, and niece Maggie Botts, who call affectionately called Marty, "Bubba."; aunts and uncles: Danny and Doris Ann Near and Betsy Burke. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, beloved friends and special 2nd mothers: Virginia Murray and Judy England of Melbourne, FL.

Marty graduated from BCHS in 1991. He has continued to be a strong supporter of the Bradley Bears and the TN Vols. Marty has always had a love for sports, playing baseball, football, basketball, and golf throughout his lifetime. Collecting sports cards has been his passion from an early age. He loved to watch his nephews and niece play various sports. His greatest joy was to run. Marty ran several 5Ks, 10Ks, and two half-marathons.

Marty had a huge heart and genuine love for all his friends and family.

His family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday May 5th at Westwood Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow the visitation at 4pm. Pastor Nolan Phillips will be officiating.
