Lake Harden

June 4, 1946 — July 20, 2017

Lake Harden, 71, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 20, 2017. Lake worked at Olin and Bowater for many years, but he also owned his own welding business, Harden Welding and Machine, through which he helped many in the community. He was a wonderful provider for his family and was a true testament to all that knew him in the way he lived his life. You could find him most days sitting in his rocking chair and studying his Bible. Lake always exemplified hard work and dedication, but he also loved having fun. He especially loved playing and coaching softball for Philippi Baptist Church for many years, including this year.
Anyone that knew Lake would cite his giving heart as one of his best qualities. He was constantly giving to others and would never expect anything in return. He loved his church greatly. Lake served as a deacon at Philippi Baptist Church for 24 years. He gave his time and love to his church. His family was the highlight of his life and he would do anything for them. Lake will be dearly missed by all that knew him and all those that he touched throughout his full life.
He is preceded in death by his infant son, Wallace Gregory Harden; parents, Wallace C. & Alice Cavett Harden; brother, Bobby Rice; and inlaws, Kenneth & Pauline McPhail.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon McPhail Harden; daughters, Amanda (Shane) Guy and LaRonda (Nathan) Sneed; grandsons, Charlie Sneed, Luke Sneed, and Cooper Guy; granddaughters, Manon Guy and Holland Guy; sisters, Jane Carter, Janice (Garry) Murray, Anita (Tommy) McLain, and Peggy (Hugh) Irvin; sisters-in-law, Faye Rice Bolt and Linda (Jerry) Murray; brother-in-law, Dwaine McPhail, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation is planned from 3:00pm until 6:30pm on Sunday evening July 23, 2017 at Philippi Baptist Church, located at 2484 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311.
A celebration of life service will follow the visitation, starting at 6:30 with Dr. Sammy Hooker officiating the service.
Lake will be laid to rest at 11:00am on Monday morning, July 24, 2017 in the Earls Cemetery. Shane Guy, Nathan Sneed, Charlie Sneed, Luke Sneed, Cooper Guy, and Greg Parker will be serving as pallbearers.
There will be a procession to the graveside on Monday morning, leaving from Philippi Baptist Church at 10:30am.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Lake or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Harden family with these arrangements.
