Obituary

Laddie G. Brown, 87, a lifelong resident of McDonald passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, November 5th, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 9th, 1927 a son of the late Betty Lenore Brown Schuyler. He was a lifelong member of the McDonald United Methodist Church where he served as song leader, Sunday School teacher and in many other capacities during his life. Laddie was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy after faithfully serving his county during World War II. He was retired from the DuPont Corporation in Chattanooga. After retirement, he later went on to work at the Cleveland Post Office as a mail carrier. Laddie was a Mason with the Masonic Lodge of Cleveland and also served as a Worthy Patron and other positions with the Order of The Eastern Star locally. He was past president of the McDonald Ruitan Club and served as a volunteer with Contact of Chattanooga.

In addition to his mother he is also preceded in death by his step father Lester Schuyler and his wife Gladys Mae Brock Brown.

Laddie leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter Suzanne Marquis and her husband Ken of Lexington, SC, two grandchildren Travis Headrick and his wife Hope and Brittany Hixson, four great grandchildren Christopher Headrick of the USMC, Tyler Headrick, Jacob Hixson (Annie) and Brooke Hixson, brothers and sisters-in-laws; Calvin & Barbara Brock of Cleveland, TN, Don & Charlotte Brock Albritton and Charles W. Brock all of McDonald, TN and Inez Brock McCarter of Chattanooga, TN, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN and will conclude with military honors.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and Companion Funeral Home for the care given to both Laddie and also his wife Gladys during their illness and passing.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the McDonald United Methodist Church in Laddie’s memory.
