September 28, 1936 — September 21, 2024

Kenneth "Ken" Paul Long, 87, lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away and joined his soulmate Shirley in their eternal Heavenly Home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Georgetown, TN on September 28, 1936, a son of the late Herman & Chattie Bates Long. Ken was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong truckdriver for various companies. After retirement, he enjoyed attending the "Liars Table" at multiple restaurants. Most of all he was an exceptional grandfather to his grandchildren who were the love of his life and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife and soulmate of 67 years Shirley Farmer Long, Ken is also preceded in death by his stepmother Lydia Long and one sister Carolyn Wilson.

Ken leaves behind to cherish his memoy his loving children son Kevin Long and his wife Donna and daughter Kristie Brown, one granddaughter Baylee Brown, two grandsons Nicholas Long and Carson Brown, two brothers Ted Long and Ed Long (Nancy), one sister Helen Cross, multiple nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in laws, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family wishes to thank Jim, Don & James Farmer as well as Jerry Murry for visiting on a regular basis to see dad & mom at home. Also, to Caris Healthcare of Athens, specifically Joanna, Samantha, Sherry, Sandy & Amy for taking great care of dad. Special thank you to Chad Morgan from being the best caregiver to dad.

The family will have a graveside and committal service for both Kenneth and Shirley where they will be laid to rest together at Chattanooga National Cemetery on future date to be determined with their son Kevin Long officiating the service.
