Kenneth Harold Jones, 78, of Cleveland, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January, 7, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 11, 1938 in Madill, Oklahoma, the first-born of Harold Kenneth Jones and Annette May Jones.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in chemical engineering in 1961, participating in ROTC. He spent two years serving in the U.S. Army at Ft. Lee, Virginia. His career in the plastics industry spanned over 40 years, and he retired from a plant in Tuscola, Illinois. Because Ken enjoyed his engineering work so much, he continued as a consultant for several years. The highlight of his career was collaborating in the ground up development of a polyethylene manufacturing facility in Clinton, Iowa.
Ken married Carolyn Ann Patterson on September 2, 1966. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016.
During their time in Iowa, he and his family relaxed by cruising the Mississippi River in their houseboat. Ken delighted in teaching his son how to waterski and exploring the sloughs with friends and family. In later years, his dogs, Bear and Allie, grandchildren, and tractor entertained him at his six-acre property in central Illinois. In 2009, he and Carolyn moved to the warmer mountains of Cleveland, Tennessee, where he was a member of Central Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, James Randall Jones. He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Jennifer Annette Jones (John) Loacker; his son, James Kenneth Bruce (Jessica) Jones; his grandsons Jonathan Adam Jones Loacker and Jordan Allen Jones Loacker; his granddaughters, Elise Lennae Jones and Annette Leigh Jones; his sisters, Mary Lou (Logan) Beard and Jen Ann Duff; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Central Church of Christ, Cleveland, on Tuesday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. No visitation is planned prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
