Katie Maetta Mitchell

December 3, 1941 — March 31, 2018

Katie Maetta Mitchell, 76, of Cleveland, went home suddenly to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2018. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on December 3, 1941 to the late Jesse Elmer Rainey and Dorsey Ellen Rainey. She was an active member of the Cornerstone Church of God and dearly loved her Cornerstone family. Katie became a Christian at the age of 15 and accepted the call to preach. She traveled, sang and evangelized in California and Illinois. During her ministry crusade in Chicago, she met the love of her life, Harvey. They were married shortly after five dates. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife for 46 years of ministry in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Alabama. During that time, she received her Exhorter’s License in the Church of God. She was an anointed singer, preacher and loved being a nurse. She was a mighty woman of faith and integrity. She was a prayer warrior and you knew she touched heaven when she prayed. There were many miracles resulting from her prayers and obedience to God. She was a mentor to so many young people and adults. She was always finding the good in others. Her spirit was full of love compassion and wisdom. She never said anything bad about anyone and selflessly gave of herself never expecting anything in return. She trusted God for everything and He always was her solid rock. Katie was welcoming and warm to everyone she came into contact with and she never met a stranger. She shared her wonderful stories of her experiences that encourage inspired others. Katie would brighten your day with her sweet, kind, and loving spirit. She was deeply loved by her family and they were deeply loved her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was the virtuous woman that Proverbs 31:10-31 talks about.
She is preceded in death ten days by her husband of 56 years, Harvey Louis Mitchell, mother and father: Jesse and Dorsie Rainey.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Travis Mitchell; daughter Lori Sentell (Rick); sister in law Dorothy Humphries; grandchildren: Joseph Sentell (Ainsley Crowley), Sarah Emily Sentell, Katriel Sentell, Lorin Sentell; nieces and nephews: Cynthia Basham (Dewayne), Lucille Humphries, Rick Humphries (Lisa), Joe Dwayne Mitchell, and Larry Mitchell; special cousin Earlene Bailey (Alfred).
