Obituary
Kathryne “Granny Kat” Chastain, 93, a resident of Ringgold, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at her residence. She was a native of South English, IA being born there on July 19, 1919 a daughter of the late Homer and Mabel King. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Granny Kat is preceded in death by her husband Jim Chastain and one sister Mary Helen Hannah.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory five daughters Alice Faye Jones of Ringgold, GA, Sandra Joyce Nicholson of Hiawassee, GA, Pat O’Dell of East Ridge, TN, Susie Kellis also of East Ridge, TN and Brenda Gale Johnston of Ringgold, GA, three sons James T. Ballard of Falling Water, TN, William David Chastain of Ringgold, GA, and Aaron Chastain of Ringgold, GA. Granny Kat is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery located on Highway 76 in Hiawassee, GA.
