Kathryn Looney Carver

November 4, 1948 — June 11, 2020

Kathryn Looney Carver, 71, a resident of Niota, TN passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2020 at her home. She was born on November 4, 1948 in Bentonville, AR. Kathryn was a graduate from Valdosta State and received a Masters Degree in education specializing in reading from Cambridge University in Boston. She started her teaching career at St. Johns Catholic in Valdosta, GA. She also worked in Savannah, Ga for both public and private schools, before working with the Department of Defense as an elementary school educator on bases in Germany and Okinawa finishing her teaching career in the Georgia School System. Kathryn also worked with Tennessee “Welcome Baby” program. She was an avid reader and had a love for flowers and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her father Spence Looney, mother Anne Beebe Looney Lastinger and son-in-law Dale Thomas.
Kathryn was a devoted mother to her four surviving children Cynthia Parsons (Darrell Eaker) of Ringgold, Ga, Clara Thomas of Blackshear, GA, Jody Carver (Latisha) of Niota, TN and Spence Peace Maker (Kelli) of Clarksburg, WV, she was a loving Grandi to Elizabeth Godwin, Amber Caylor, Johnny Peterson, Catrina Kaminski, Danielle Eddy, Emily Eddy & Anevay Peace Maker, seven great grandchildren Jason Peterson, Abigail Godwin, Cora Godwin, Leah Peterson, Jordyn Godwin, Chloe Kaminski & Piper Lee, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 12, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Paint Rock Seventh Day Baptist Church located at 92 Williamson Street in Paint Rock, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to either the Paint Rock Seventh Day Baptist Church or Shrinner’s Hospital in memory of Kathryn Carver & Clifford “Cliffie” Earl King.
