Karon Rae Scholebo, age 74, passed away suddenly on March 19, 2025, with her loving
companion, nephew, and friend, Daniel Shell, by her side gently singing and walking her into eternity. She was born on September 16, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, and grew up in East Gary (later renamed Lake Station), Indiana. She graduated from East Gary Edison High School in 1968.
Karon married the love of her life, Allen (Al) Ray Scholebo, on May 8, 1971. He was her first boyfriend and they remained committed and inseparable partners for 47 years, until his untimely death on February 23, 2019.
Karon and Al had two sons, Lee Andrew (Andy) Scholebo on June 1, 1973, and Daniel (Danny) Sean Scholebo on November 10, 1975. Karon's sons were the light of her life, and she was an adoring mother, wife and homemaker. Years later, she was blessed with the addition of five grandchildren, whom she also loved unendingly.
Besides her fierce love for her family, Karon had a tender and loving heart for her dogs and other animals. She was "mother" to several boxers and, in most recent years, the two Great Danes who shared her home. She also loved watching pandas and farm animals on YouTube, caring for them as if they were her own.
She had a boundless adventurous spirit and loved joining her friends and family with all things dangerous and exciting. Her escapades included bungee jumping, zip lining, fast roller coasters, off-roading and even, at the age of 70, parachuting out of an airplane! Her infectious laugh and squeals of joy were character trademarks by which she will be forever remembered.
Karon was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Lee Davis, Marie Rossi Davis and stepmothers, Lillian Kosbau Davis and Wilma Kalberer Davis, as well as her beloved husband, Al Scholebo. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Davis Harrington, and brother, Donald Lee Davis Jr.; children Andy (Cheryl Henry, with their children, Alex, Arie, and Calli) and Danny (Theresa Fee, with their children Mason and Piper). Her final years were spent as an "Aunt Bee" to her loving nephew and companion,Daniel Shell and his son DJ Shell.
Karon's life will be celebrated at The Chapel Cleveland, 2412 Wolfe Drive, NW, Cleveland, Tennessee, on Thursday, March 27, 2025 with welcoming starting at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to join the family at a reception dinner being held at the church immediately after the service.
