Julie Steele

November 1, 1964 — January 21, 2024

Julie Roberts Steele, 59, of the Cleveland area passed away on January 21, 2024. She was born on November 1, 1964.

She is survived by her loving husband Joseph A. Steele, mother Barbara Roberts; children: Krista Blankenbeckley and Joseph A. Steele 2nd "Joey"; siblings: Larry Roberts Jr. (Donna), Mark Roberts (Sandy), Tim Roberts (Becky), Alisa Williams (Sam), Connie Werkheiser (Kevin), Laura McDaniel (Tim), Malissa Hawkins (Robert).

Julie loved to garden, cook, and host guests in her home. She was a gifted photographer and enjoyed putting together video presentations, orchestrating family events, directing Christmas programs, and other dramas. Traveling was a passion of hers and she loved seeing other parts of the country. She was devoted to her church and took great pride in serving them.

Julie served as a pastor's wife at three local churches and as an overseer's wife in several regions. She would go above and beyond what was asked of her such as cleaning the sanctuary carpet for the General Assembly to recovering lost files on the Presiding Bishop's computer. She was a pictorial historian for Zion Assembly Church. She has taken and archived pictures of most events that the church has conducted since its inceptions in 2004, both locally and across the nation. She has proven herself a faithful wife, mother, and church member. She had the gift of hospitality as seen by the depth of cooking projects she would undertake both for the church and for family, as well as lodging guests in her home, especially for church events. It was abundantly evident that Julie loved the Lord, her family, and the people of God. She was also notorious for loving to laugh and her sense of humor.

Julie and Joe met in Florida at the Church of God of Prophecy in Daytona Beach on September 6, 1981. They were married there on April 9th 1983 and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past Easter of 2023. Both of their children were born in Florida. In 1990 the family moved to North Carolina where they served as pastor and wife for 2 congregations. They have resided in the Cleveland, TN area for the past two decades.

Her family will receive friends from 11am-2pm on Saturday January 27th at Zion Assembly Church of God located at 5512 Waterlevel Hwy, Cleveland, TN with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2pm. She will be laid to rest following her service at Lee Cemetery.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Julie or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Steele family with these arrangements.
