Joyce Hickman

Joyce Dean Hickman, 81, a lifetime resident of Birchwood, passed away at her home on November 27, 2024. She was born to the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Martha Williams on July 4, 1943.

Joyce was employed by the Hamilton County Food Service for 35 years, beginning at Meadowview Elementary and retiring from Birchwood Elementary. She was a devout member of Birchwood Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Billy Joe, and Darwin Williams.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 62 years, John David Hickman, daughters, Sheila (Alvin) Lindsey, and Mary Ann Smith, grandchildren, Andrew Goodner, Amy (Trista) Goodner Basham, Jeremy (Mary Beth) Lindsey, great-grandchildren, Shay and Nevaeh Lindsey, Katrina and Landon Smith, siblings, Ben Williams, Doug (Linda) Williams, Jerry (Shirley) Williams, Margaret Hewitt, in-laws, Nancy Williams, Mary Lucille Sims, Jewell Ward, Ladonna Hickman, Opal Ruth Slater, special friends, Alan and Sandra Wilsey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Birchwood Baptist Church with Pastor Joshua Hollis officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm prior to the service.
