John Robert "Johnny" Ensley, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of June 24, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Johnny was born on May 1, 1948 to the late O.W. "Shorty" and Geneva Ensley. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith.

Johnny attended Bradley High School. He later became a proud member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #43 in Chattanooga, where he worked as a Union Pipe Fitter for TVA and several industries. Before his health declined, he enjoyed bass fishing, metal detecting, traveling with his wife and cheering on the Big Orange.

Johnny is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Jean, his daughters Beth (Steve) Kiser, Laura (Blake) Copeland, grandsons Nathan (Katie) Kiser, Taylor (Rachel) Copeland and great granddaughters Reagan and Maren Kiser, who caused him to "light up" each time they visited.

The family is very thankful and appreciative for his Hospice nurses Julia, Laura, Lora, Annie, Janie and Tamira who provided excellent care during his illness and also ministered to his wife each time they visited. And a special thank you to Carol for her assistance and support.

The family will have a private white dove release ceremony at a later time.

You are invited to share a personal memory of John or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
