Johnnie Ruth Holmes

Johnnie Ruth Holmes, 91, of Dalton, GA passed away on May 4, 2021. She was born on October 28, 1929, to the late Oscar and Lola Godfrey. She was born and raised in the Red Clay area. Johnnie loved working puzzles and being outside working with flowers in her yard. She has also been known to be the “Best Biscuit Maker in the World.”

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Joel Holmes; son, Teddy Allen Holmes; siblings: Frank Godfrey, Lewis Godfrey, Beatrice Lindstrom, Tommy Joe Godfrey, Teddy Allen Godfrey, David Godfrey, and Jake Godfrey.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Bobbie June Gupton; daughter in law, Sharon, and husband, Brent; special friend, Lucille Headrick; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Johnnie’s family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, May 8, 2021. She will be laid to rest at Boanerges Church Cemetery at 1:30pm following the visitation.
