John Raymond Hamilton

John Raymond Hamilton, 83, of Cleveland, TN passed away at home on August 8, 2023. According to his wishes a graveside service will be held on Saturday August 12, 2023 at Cedar Springs Cemetery at 3:00PM.

John was born on April 3, 1940 at Rural Washington in Tazewell County, Illinois to Samuel Henry and Reon Ann “Wyatt” Hamilton. John was the sixth child. John lived in Independence, Kansas for most of his life.

Survivors include one daughter and two sons, Anna Jeanne Keck, John Wayne Hamilton (Diana), and Robert Andrew Hamilton (Natalia); ten grandchildren, Andy(Laura), Cody, Marissa(Brandon), Michael, Christy, Jeremiah, Rebekah, Robert, Jr., Zachary and Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Emmarie, Ellisyn and Beckham; one brother, Tom (Earlene) Hamilton, four sisters, Clara(Warren) Jones, Josephine(Don) Counterman, Mary(Dave) Corn and Barbara(Lew) Forman; Sister-in-law, Lola Hamilton(Oliver).

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

John attended schools in Illinois and Missouri. He graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1959. He served in the U.S. and overseas. He served in both tactical and strategic air command with B-47, B-52 and the first B-52 MITU takeoffs. John retired from Atmos Energy after completing 32 years of service. He pastored Spring Hill Church faithfully for 20 years.

John was known for his loving and gentle spirit. He was loved and respected by everyone he met. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully to the end.
