John Mehling

John Mehling, 54, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18. He was a jokester who loved to make people laugh. John lived life by his own rules, never much caring for the status quo. Where he’s from isn’t nearly as important as where he’s gone. His favorite giggling preacher would routinely say “Remember WHOSE you are!” His family knows who they are and don’t need to be listed as a Who’s Who. John played the tenor banjo in the contemporary church praise band (yes, Mindy, a banjo). He was a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars. He cheered when his students improved their ACT scores – GO Dub-V. He loved words, movies, and the Oscars (including the Red Carpet Pre-show). His favorite weekday, DUH…Hump Day!!! Fist bump to Mr. C. John was an everyday man with a God-given talent of quick wit and grand humor. His family will cherish his memory through love and laughter.
Fond memories and light refreshments will be shared from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, February 27 at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, it was John’s wishes donations be made to either of the following: Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation or Broad Street United Methodist Church’s Johnston Woods.
