John Franklin "Johnny" Dockins

John Franklin “Johnny” Dockins, 53, a lifelong resident of McMinn County passed away on Sunday evening, December 10, 2017 in a Nashville hospital. He was born on March 19, 1964 in Athens, TN a son of the Franklin & Joann Gaddis Dockins. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. Johnny was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Johnny leaves behind to cherish to memory one daughter Samantha Dockins, two grandchildren, two sisters Donna Wilson (Danny) of Decatur, TN and Becky Keck (Robert) of Columbia, SC, a special aunt Barbara Pate (Jim) of St. Petersburg, FL, two nieces Amber Tharp (T.J.) and Lauren DelPriore (Dorian) and three nephews Alex Keck (Ashley), Zachary Estes and Derrick Dowell. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 13, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home Athens located at 400 S. White Street. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery and will conclude with military honors.
