John Clayton Strain, 63 of Cleveland, departed this life on Saturday evening, July 17, 2021 at the Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center. Born on June 7, 1958 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Robert Clayton and Ruth Wilson Green Strain, he moved to Cleveland from Manassas, VA after serving seven and a half years with the USMC, to attend Tomlinson College. A member of Turning Point Community Church, he was known as an avid collector of comics, a master of puns, a foster parent of 12 years, and the loudest cheering voice at any of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Most importantly, he was known to love Jesus and to share His love with others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, William and Virginia Peters.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judy Mae Peters Strain; sons, Christopher and Candice Strain and Clayton Strain; daughter, Melody Balinger; grandchildren, Kaleb, Coleman, Alana, Chloe, and Ethan; sister, Susan and Klaus Sorensen; as well as several extended family members and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for John Clayton Strain will be held at 4p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Turning Point Community Church.
