John Bartly Jenkins, 44, a lifelong resident of McMinn County passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in a local hospital. He was born in Cleveland, TN on August 30, 1975. John was a heavy equipment operator for several different companies in the area. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U. S. Air Force. John was an avid landscaper who loved spending his spare time with his family. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed by each of them.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Jim & Allie Jenkins and maternal grandparents Robert & Lorene Key.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Jessica Jenkins, parents Johnny & Judy Jenkins of Englewood, two daughters Alyssa Jenkins and Ashley Jenkins, one step daughter Auriel Demeule, two step sons Austin and Louie Demeule, one sister Carol Ann Darr, special friend Keith Moses, special niece Katlyn Goodman, special great nieces and nephews Rylan, Carter & Gracelynn, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, February 13, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street. A funeral service will follow the visitation time at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening with the Reverend Russ Maples and the Reverend Jack Bryan officiating.
The interment and committal service will take place on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Englewood, TN with Cade Hipps, Brody Hipps, Caleb Swafford, Greg Kilpatrick, Keith Moses and Brad Moses serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made to Miracle Lake Ministries in John’s memory.
