Joann Ruth

Joann Ruth, 82, of Cleveland passed away peacefully on August 2, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family.

Joann was known as a hard worker and retired from Hardwick Clothes and Sanda Hosiery Mill before working for Cleveland City Schools as a bus monitor. She loved to stay busy by going to yard sales, going to eat with friends, traveling, cooking, and shopping or even going to country music concerts. She was a very giving and selfless woman who was known for helping everyone around her. Her greatest joy though was her grandchildren. She was a very loving and involved grandmother. She was a member of Prospect Church of God and loved her Lord and church dearly. She was profoundly loved and will be greatly missed by so many.

She is proceeded in death by her mother, Stella Cross; her only child, Paul Ruth; sisters Dorothy Morgan and Shirley Hoffman; and brothers Ricky Pearce and Jerry Trentham.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bobby Ruth; grandsons Bobby Ruth (Claire), Jacob Ruth (Carrie) and Tim Hawkins (Kim); four great grandchildren Macie Hawkins, Jackson Hawkins, Chandler Ruth, Wade Ruth; and Sister Judy Kellerman; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

Services will be held on August 7, 2023, at Prospect Church of God. Family will receive visitors for viewing from 12:00PM to 2:00PM with a service following beginning at 2:00PM officiated by Pastor Timothy Gann. Following the service, a short graveside ceremony will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St Jude Children’s Hospital or your local First Responders in Joann’s name.
