Jimmy Ross Thompson

Jimmy Ross Thompson, loving husband and father, resident of The Bridge at Ooltewah for the past three years, formerly of Cleveland, TN, died October 19, 2022. Born July 1, 1934, in Athens, TN. Jim was proud to serve his country for 22 years of service in the United States Air Force which included a tour of Vietnam.

Preceded in death by his father, Roy Wayne Thompson; mother, Pauline Thompson; sisters, Jean Wright and Shirley Thompson.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Thompson; children, Ross (Libby) Thompson, Tami (Bob) Rigus, Donna (Raymond) Birt, Terry (Micha) Kyle, Rhonda (Wiley) Hooper; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Catherine (Charles) Hafley, Martha Shugart, Harvey “Cooter” (Bonnie) Thompson, and Dennis “Denny” (Sue) Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, 3:00 PM, at Companion Funeral Home, Chapel with Pastor Ken Purdie officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM, prior to the service.

A private graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearth Hospice or Wounded Warriors.
