Jimmy E. Cothran

September 5, 1956 — July 8, 2023

Jimmy Eugene Cothran, affectionately known as Bird dog, spread his wings and soared to the heavens on July 8, 2023, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This free-spirited soul, born on September 5, 1956, in LaFayette, Georgia, has left a trail of laughter and love in his wake.

Jimmy was the life of the party, a social butterfly who never needed an introduction. With a heart as big as the Georgia Bulldogs stadium, he collected friends like trophies. His infectious energy and friendly nature made him everyone's favorite cheerleader, both on and off the field. Go Dawgs!

When he wasn't busy charming the crowd, Jimmy could be found cruising around his neighborhood on his trusty hover round, with his faithful sidekick Moonpie perched on his lap. Together, they were a dynamic duo, bringing joy to all they encountered.

But Jimmy's greatest role was that of a devoted family man. As a brother, father, and uncle, he was a true champion. His love knew no bounds, and his support was unwavering. Survived by his son Tommy Cothran, his sister Decarla Frix, his sister Bonnie Norris, his sister Joann Taylor, and a whole pack of adoring nephews and nieces, Jimmy's legacy of love will live on.

In his final flight, Jimmy joins his beloved mother Hazel Kirby, his father Lefty Cothran, his brothers Bill, Tony, and Richard Cothran, and his sisters Linda Cothran and Judy Miller. Together, they'll continue to watch over us with infinite love and laughter.

A celebration of Jimmy's vibrant life will be held in private, where stories and memories will be shared, and tears will be mingled with laughter. In honor of his spirit, the family kindly requests donations to the Georgia Bulldogs Foundation. Let's keep Jimmy's legacy alive and kicking like a winning field goal!

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, let's remember to embrace life with the same zest and playfulness that Jimmy possessed. He would want us to cherish every moment, live with a smile, and spread happiness like confetti. Fly high, Jimmy, and may your spirit forever dance in the skies.
