Jessie Marie Shipp

Jessie Marie Shipp, of East Ridge, passed away October 30, 2019 at a local hospital from complications of heart surgery. Jessie was born July 15, 1935 in Polk County to James F. and Ealie Clements Wooten. She attended schools in Bradley County and then moved to Chattanooga sixty years ago. Jessie retired from Olan Mills after 30 years of loyal service.
Her best friend was her younger sister and only surviving sibling, Frances Snyder.
Jessie's special gift was caring for and enjoying her many nephews and nieces and had a special bond with Frances' children Angie Scruggs, Steve Snyder and Craig Snyder, their spouses Steve, Rhonda and Sonja and their children Alex, Elliot, Krissy, Haley, Blake, Kylie, Miranda, Emily, Marissa, Gillian, Chelsie and Trevor, all of whom considered Jessie like another Grandmother.
In recent years, the arrival of the next generation, her great-greats (Nolan, Easton, Micah June, Teddy and Colton) brought her much joy and she was looking forward to meeting Landry in a couple of months.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her six brothers and two other sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday November 2nd from 5-7PM at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church in East Ridge, TN.
Jessie lost a special nephew, Johnny Roden, to childhood cancer many years ago and was forever grateful to St. Jude Hospital for the care provided to him. Continuing Jessie's life-long support of St. Jude with a donation in her memory would be a special way of honoring her.
