Jesse Waddell

Jesse Waddell, 72, won his battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, as he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesse was born on July 9, 1952, to Haskell and Virginia Waddell and was a lifetime resident of Birchwood, Tennessee. Jesse graduated from Birchwood High School in 1970 and also was a graduate of Cleveland Community College. He was a veteran of the United States army. Jesse served the Lord for many years as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir director. He was a member of Limestone Lodge. He retired as a chemical operator and enjoyed farming after his retirement. He was very generous and provided help to many in his community.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Virginia Waddell, and his sister, Jody Cochran. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Veda; son, Jeremy (Erin) Waddell of Hixson, and three grandchildren who were the joy of his life - Cora Leigh ("Dimples"), Micah Brandon, and Adia Joy Waddell. He is also survived by his siblings: Billie Westbrooks, Heman Waddell, Carl (Stephanie) Waddell, Bobbie Holder, Hackie Grisham, Dora Couch, "brothers" by choice - Julian Beavers and Barry Gibson - and many nieces and nephews. He had many special friends who were more like family such as Ken and Carla Laster.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home in the Shelli Cody Memorial Sanctuary in Cleveland, Tennessee.

A celebration of Jesse's life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home in the Shelli Cody Memorial Sanctuary with Rev. Ken Purdie and Wayne Wells officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Holders memorial Cemetery at Gamble Road Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Gideons International or the American Cancer Society.
