In the early morning hours on March 22, 2024 the angels came to take Jerry Basil Trotter to his home in Heaven, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jerry was born July 25, 1944 in Cleveland TN, to the late Glen R. Trotter and Violet (Murphy) Trotter. He was also preceded in death by his "partner in crime" brother Farrell Trotter and his sister Bernice (Trotter) Barham. Besides family members, he was greeted at Heaven's Gate by some of his life-long friends: George Fox, Earl McConnell, Donald "Curly" Rogers, and Herbert Conley.
Jerry loved his Lord, his family, and his First Baptist Church family. For 46 years he made many friends and acquaintances through the career and job he loved at Duo-Fast, Chattanooga. He enjoyed farming, gardening, wood working, hunting, and helping others.
Still here to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Wilson) Trotter, his 3 sons and their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren:
- Brian & Michele
Titus, Michaela, Micah, Nadia, Nathan, Cali
Baylor, Laela, Andrew, Cooper, Londyn, Knox, Piper, Emma
- Curt & Renee
Rachel and Cole
- Chris & Keri
Brandon, Sean, Ellis, Coy, Emily
Oakland, Asher
He leaves behind with love, his brothers Darrell (Polly) and Harold (Pam), his brother-in-law Johnny, his loving aunt Peggy (Lonnie), cousin Joyce, and numerous other cousins, plus his special friends: Bobby Park, Arnold Truelove, Tim Ellis, John Perkins, and Kenneth Elliott.
Jerry's family will receive friends from 11am until 2pm on Wednesday March 27th at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2pm, officiated by Rev. Lee Arrington. Jerry will be laid to rest following the service at Tasso United Methodist Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers you may contribute to First Baptist Church Generations (www.legacy.firstbabtistcleveland.com/generations/) or to Miracle Lake Christian Center (www.miraclelake.org).
You are invited to share a personal memory of Jerry or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com.
Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Trotter family with these arrangements.
