Jerry Lee Slaughter

Jerry Lee Slaughter, 70, passed away on May 8, 2017. He was born on October 8, 1946 to the late Lewis and Maggie Slaughter. Jerry was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a school bus driver for 32 years. Jerry also enjoyed antique restoration, but especially spending time with his family, grandchildren, and dogs.

In addition to his mother and father, Jerry is preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Lewis Slaughter and John Paul Slaughter.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Linda Kay Slaughter; two daughters: Tonya Gibson (Charles Jerry) and Shawnea Gibson (J.D.); brother Glen Slaughter; sisters: Janice Gregg and Linda Hess; grandchildren: Alexis Biggs (C.J.), Charles Gibson “Trey,” Whitney Ballard (Eric), Tanner Brown, and Kaylee Brown. Jerry also leaves behind a great grandson who is yet to be born Henley Wyett Ballard and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Friday May 12, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday May 11, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with J.D. Gibson, Charles Gibson, Tanner Brown, Trey Gibson, Eric Ballard, C.J. Biggs serving as pallbearers. Donnie Slaughter and Doug Slaughter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
