Jerry Lee Hooper, a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2024, at his home in Ringgold, GA. He was born on June 11, 1945, in Ringgold, GA, to Luther and Gladys Hooper.
Jerry was a man of great character and integrity, known for his loyal and caring nature. He had a deep passion for his family, friends and community. Jerry's kindheartedness and selflessness were evident in everything he did. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jane Hooper, and his son, Jerry Lee Hooper Jr.
His brothers Donald Hooper and Ricky Hooper. Their memories will forever be cherished.
Jerry is survived by his loving daughter, Christy Southerland, and his sons Shayne Hooper and Greg Pendley, and step-daughter Helen Seabolt. His grandchildren, Paige Hooper, Sydney Southerland, Isaiah Southerland, Paisley Carroll, Cruz Carroll, Tommy Pendley, and Amber Pendley, brought immense joy to his life. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Tyler Blackwell ,Samantha Blackwell and Trenton Pendley; sisters, Pat Hullender, Bonita Stiggins, Shirley Brandon, and brother Steve Hooper; daughter-in law
Michelle Hooper , son-in law John Carroll, and let's not forget his beloved grand-furbaby Braxton
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a radio operator, earning the National Defense Service medal and displaying his sharpshooting skills. He was honorably discharged in 1966, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and sacrifice
In his free time, Jerry found joy in various hobbies and interests. He found solace in the great outdoors, spending countless hours fishing and hunting. He was a avid Atlanta Falcons fan, and loved watching NASCAR races. He was known for his exceptional grilling skills, bringing people together with delicious meals and warm hospitality.
Jerry Lee Hooper will be remembered for his genuine love for others and unwavering commitment to his family. Jerry's infectious smile and joyful spirit brought light into the lives of those around him. His legacy of resilience and determination will forever inspire those who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Companion Funeral Home, followed by the service in the chapel. Mr. Hooper will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery with honors, following the service.
