Jerry Elrod

Jerry Ray Elrod took his Heavenly flight to meet his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2024 . He was born on February 15 , 1946 . He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working and talking on a CB radio by is handle Rabbit man. He loved Jesus and would stop and talk to strangers everywhere he went. He worked at Bendix/ Honeywell for 37 years and was John Rod to everyone he worked with. He would help anyone in any way he could and loved everyone. He never met a stranger and he would stop people when he and his family went anywhere and would tell them about the Lord and also invite them to church. He was a blessing to everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother Mattie Jones, and by is father Charley Elrod. He also had seven sisters, Evelyn Elrod, Ruth Dispaine, Maude Arp, Lois Held, and Hazel Gaddis, and Elizabeth Kaylor, and Shirley Rhoades, and one brother Carl Elrod. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila Elrod of 23 years. Daughter and son in law, Teresa and Hoyt Johnson and step daughter Keisha Baker. Grandsons Micah (Mary) and Zack (Courtney) Johnson; brothers in law Darryl Davis and Dale Davis; Granddaughter Gracie Johnson and her fiancé Joseph Smith, and 2 great grandchildren Parker Johnson and Paisley Johnson, special cousin Patsy Hedrick and several nieces and nephews. Paul Bearers, Fred Coleman, Zack Johnson, Micah Johnson, Joseph Smith, Tony Garret, and Dale Davis. Jerry's family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm on Monday August 19th at Galilee Baptist Church located at 665 Old Chattanooga Pike SW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of his life will be held following visitation at 4pm with Rev. Donald Weaver and Rev. Terry Daniels officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Plowman Cemetery.
