Jerry E. Harris

Jerry Edward Harris, 73 of Chattanooga passed away on April 23rd in a local hospital. He was born in Nashville, moved to Chattanooga in 1961 and graduated from Tyner High School in 1965. He was honorably discharged from the US Army on April 23rd 1968 after an injury in Vietnam. He then earned an Associate's degree in Engineering from Chattanooga State and went on to work for TVA for over 30 years. After retirement Jerry volunteered his time and services during many mission trips to Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras. Jerry's true passion was found in his Bluegrass music, singing and playing guitar in a band with his wife and friends. He will truly be missed by the local music community. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Marie Harris and his brother Tom. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Betty Harris; daughters Jennifer (Scott) Guider and Kimberly (Hunter) Knox; sisters Nancy Seaman and Vicki Hall; many extended family members and friends. Services will be held Friday October 9th at 2:30pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. We respectfully ask that Covid-19 guidelines to be followed at the graveside service. Arrangements by Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.
