Jerry Cross

Jerry Dean Cross, 64, a longtime resident of McMinn County passed away on Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Polk County on May 7, 1959. He was known to some as bow hunter or pig farmer, but best know for his love of truck driving. He loved trucking more than life itself and drove for over 30 years for M & C Transport.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Ollie Cross.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 17 years Paula Cross, three daughters and their husbands Rachel & Jacob Headrick of Benton, TN, Katie & Jed McDonnell of Riceville, TN and Megan & Zeke Stone-Coffelt of Niota, TN, three grandchildren whom he loved dearly Kimber McDonnell, Remington McDonnell and Cordell Stone-Coffelt, father and mother in law Bill & Karen Gates, a special father figure Roy Keith and his wife Tootie and their family, one sister Anne Belle Blackwell, one brother Johnnie Cross and wife Rita, brother and sister in law Chad & Tabithia Gates, best friend Mac & Olivia Hatcher along with their family, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN. A service celebrating his life will follow the visitation time at 6:00 PM with the Reverend David Newberry officiating.
