Jennie Lee Johnson, 84, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away surrounded by her family at her daughter's home on November 27, 2024. She was born in Benham, Kentucky to Richard and Josephine Kirk on March 9, 1940. She is the last of her generation of eight siblings.
Jennie was a graduate from JL Cook High School in Athens. She began her life long nursing career at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah, Tennessee and finished her career in the medical field doing private duty home health care. She loved her career that she chose and spread it through out her home and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hale Johnson Jr.; son, Glenn Edward Johnson, his wife, Monica and her grandson Kenneth H. Johnson, Jr.; brothers, Theodore Kirk, Roosevelt Kirk, Billy Jack Kirk; sisters, Alberta, Shirley, Jackie and Mary.
Jennie leaves behind her children; Kenneth Howard Johnson; Frederick Eugene Johnson, Joy Ann (Curtis) Mapp, all of Athens; grandchildren, Kimberly Tennille Harper of Calhoun, TN, Frederick Johnson II, Nathan Aaron Smith, Xavier Johnson and Tyrone Morris II; great grand children, Kyra (Javier) Rico of Cleveland, TN, Kane and Dre Johnson, Jalen and Jordan Harper; Jada Harper, Khloe Johnson; great great grandchildren, Thiego and Sienna Rico, Jasiah Harper, Adonis Harper, Ozias Murdic, Malix and Makaius Smith.
Also surviving are sister in-laws, Joyce Brown of Cleveland, Alberta (Swan) Hover of Cleveland and Rose Kirk of Nashville, TN, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, 400 S. White St., Athens, TN 37303. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.
The family would like to give thanks to all the family and friends for your gifts, thoughts, and prayers. And a very special thanks to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church (324 County Road 732 Calhoun, TN 37309) who will be providing repass dinner for the family following the service.
