Obituary
Jeanette Gertrude Vander Heiden, 94, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at her sons home in Cleveland, Tenn., under the care of Hospice.
A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at the Newton Christian Reformed Church.
Funeral services for Jeaanette will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, at the church. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jeanette’s name are being designated to: Newton Christian Reformed Church or Newton Christian School. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Jeanette, the daughter of Engle and Dena (Bruckelman) Van Zee, was born February 3, 1919, in New Holland, South Dakota. She was the eldest of ten brothers & sisters, and was a high school graduate of New Holland.
On May 10, 1939, Jeanette was united in marriage with Henry T. Vander Heiden in Harrison, South Dakota. To this union four children were born: Henry Jr., Darlene, Dale and Judy. Jeanette had devoted her life to her family, and was a member of the Newton Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed her family, and being with and doing things for her grandchildren.
Those left to honor Jeanette’s memory include her son Dale (Debbie) Vander Heiden of Cleveland, TN; her daughter Darlene Evans of Rapid City, S.D.; her daughter-in-law Cora Vander Heiden of Newton; son-in-law Tim Parrish of Newton; her eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; her brothers and sister: Riley (Pearl) VanZee, Ed (Adrena “Andi”) VanZee, Gertrude (Ed) Slings, all of Newton, her sisters-in-law: Irene VanZee, Mary Lou VanZee-Kridt, and Geneva VanZee, ; her nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her son Henry J. Vander Heiden Jr. on November 24, 2007; daughter Judy Parrish; son-in-law James C. Evans; grandson Brian J. Evans; and her brothers & sisters-in-law, sister & brother-in-law: LeRoy Van Zee, Virgil VanZee, Dorothy (Bill) VanArkle, Herman (Ann) VanZee, John VanZee and Raymond (Frances) VanZee.
