Janice Suits

Janice Crye Suits, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully passed at her home on November 30, 2024. She was born on March 21, 1947 to the late Luther and Rosealthea Crye.

Janice was the proud mother of two loving daughters, Lacy Porter Gibson (Grant) and Stephanie Suits Goins who will miss her wise counsel. She loved and adored her grandchildren, Will Rector, Patten Rector, Kennedy Rector (fiancé, Dylan Viars), Porter Gibson, Evan Goins, Logan Goins, Easton Goins. They looked forward to time and adventures with their Nene. Her beloved brother, Bubba Crye (Diane) survives her, in addition to several nieces, nephews and a host of friends including her special friend and former husband, Stephen L. Suits.

A proud graduate of the 1965 class of Bradley Central High School, she completed her undergraduate degree at Tennessee Wesleyan College and Master's degree at University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Janice began her career in elementary education in 1969 and spent more than forty years both in the classroom and as principal in Bradley County and North Georgia schools. She dedicated those years to not only teaching but mentoring those she met on a daily basis. Many former students and fellow faculty members have commented on her lasting impact on their careers and lives.

After caring for her invalid mother from an early age, Janice continued to be a caregiver for many family members and friends throughout her life. She was also an active member of the Bradley County Retired Teachers and Principals Associations in addition to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8 from 3-5 pm at Companion Funeral Home. The service will be held Monday, December 9 at noon with interment to follow at Hilcrest Cemetery.
