Obituary
Janice Filyaw Smith, 65, a resident of Cleveland passed away on Friday afternoon May 10th, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Janice was a lifelong resident of Cleveland being born here on October 18, 1947 a daughter of the late Hutsell and Nellie Filyaw. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Boanerges Baptist Church in Old Fort, TN. Janice loved gardening and tending to her flower gardens and anything to do with the great outdoors. She loved to ride through the mountains and enjoyed the many colors of God’s creation. Janice was devoted to and loved her church and church family. Above all Janice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Janice leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of twenty four years Ronnie Smith, four children Jennifer Davis, Jason Smith and wife Brandy, Chris Smith and wife Angela and Whitney Mieseler and husband Frank, two brothers Jim Filyaw and wife Ann of Fort Smith, AR and Alan Filyaw and wife Joyce of Ocoee, TN, five grandchildren Kirsten Armstrong (Mikey), Harrison Smith, Madison Smith, Gracie Smith and Skylar Mieseler, one great grandson Zachary Armstrong. She is also survived by a loving father and mother-in-law Lee & Evelyn Smith of Charleston, TN and numerous other extended family members, friends, and church family.
A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Boanerges Baptist Church located at 823 Boanerges Church Road in Old Fort, TN. 37362 with the Reverend Charles Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with Brian Keith, Dale Jordan, Frank Mieseler, Harrison Smith, Jason Smith and Chris Smith serving as pallbearers. Ms. Janice will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Boanerges Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends in the Cleveland area on Monday night May 13th, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Stuart Park Baptist Church located at 850 17th Street NW in Cleveland, TN.
