Janice "Cookie" Gail Mckinney

Janice "Cookie" Gail McKinney, 62, of Athens, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Janice was born on September 7, 1960, in Niota, Tennessee to the late Curtis Hysell and Justine Underwood. Janice enjoyed going to church, shopping, cleaning, and re-arranging her home, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed spreading his word any chance she could.

Along with her parents Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dale McKinney; her sister, Tammy Parker; brother, Donnie Hysell; and her nephew, Brian Hysell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Ashley (Matt) Derrick; grandchildren, Joshua Derrick, and Ethan Derrick; two step-daughters, Leslie (Eddie) Goldman, and Lacey (Michael) Hoover; step father, Jerry (Phyllis) Underwood; siblings, Kristena Underwood, and Rick (Pat) Hysell; nephews, Travis Parker, and Justin Hysell; special children, Austin Goldman, Haley Goldman, Olivia Ricker, and Jonah Ricker, Blake (Haley) Hoover, Katlynn (Ryan) Shrader, and Maddie (Caleb) Gomer.

A memorial service for Janice and Jerry will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home of Athens.
