Obituary

Jane Suits McKenzie, 74, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Jane was born July 25, 1940, in Cleveland TN, to the late Spurgeon and Opal Ruble Suits, and also preceded in death by her husband R.L. McKenzie Jr., son Tony McKenzie, and sister Shirley Miller. She graduated from Bradley Central High School. She had worked for Chattanooga Gas Company and later retired from Tennessee Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development after 30yrs of service. Jane attended Decatur United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Ruben “Mike “and Michele Brown McKenzie, Chris and Bridget McKenzie, and Jennifer McKenzie all of Decatur. Grandchildren Logan McKenzie, Bryce McKenzie, Tanner McKenzie, and Emma Womac. Sister and brother-n-law Ann and Ned Johnson of Cleveland. Brother-n-laws and sister-n-laws Billy G and Johnnie McKenzie of Decatur, George Madison and Shelby McKenzie of Harrison, Jerry M and Jennia McKenzie of Decatur, and one sister-n-law and brother-n-law Mary Lou and Benny Deloach of Decatur. Several nieces, nephews and numerous other extended family members and beloved friends.

A memorial celebration of her life is planned for Sunday afternoon, December 21st, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Decatur United Methodist Church located at 145 Vernon Street in Decatur, TN with the Reverend Hugh Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Decatur United Methodist Church Building Fund in Jane’s memory.
