James William "Bill" Works

James William “Bill” Works, 85, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his home. Bill enjoyed reading his bible, and watching the Braves on TV. Bill was a Deacon for many years at New Liberty Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN. He was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church in Old Fort, TN.

Bill is proceeded in death by his parents, James Russell Works and Violet William Works; his first wife, Jennette Rogers Works; one brother, Ralph Works of Cleveland, TN; two sisters, Jenny Booth of Cleveland, TN and Judy Garner of Charleston, TN; two infant siblings, one grandchild; three great-grandchildren. He is also proceeded by, one daughter, Ima Joyce Floyd of Benton, TN; two sons, Cletus Floyd of Dayton, TN and Darrel “Doe” Works of Cleveland, TN; and one step-son Jamie Matthews of Old Fort, TN.

Left to cherish his memory, wife of 20 years, Geraldine Matthews Works of Old Fort, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Tressia and Roy Totherow of Etowah, TN; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Kim Works of Cleveland, TN; daughter-in-law, Julie Works of Cleveland, TN; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Debbie Hogan of Ranger, GA; two stepdaughters and son-in-law, Kay and Joe Brown of Tennga, GA and Fay and Alan Snyder of Cleveland, TN. He is also survived by one sister, Margret Farmer of Charleston, TN; three brothers Rev. Robert “Bob” Works, Thomas and Mary Works, and Wayne Works all of Cleveland, TN; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW Cleveland, TN 37311 with the Rev. John Parker and Rev. Rob Works. Follow the service the family and friends will go in procession to Lee Cemetery for the graveside service. Tanner Works, Heath Works, Johnny Smith, Travis Hipps, Steve Wilcox, Cody Hembree, Brent Flowers, and Eric Flowers serving as pallbearers The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
