James Arthur "Bud" Tinsley, a devoted friend, beloved family member, and cherished community leader, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on October 4, 1925 in East Chattanooga, TN. Bud lived a life rich with service, love, and faith.
Bud was known for his warm heart and friendly nature, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was a Navy veteran, Bud honorably served his country during World War II. He was devoted to serving the lord in ministry for over 50 years. Among his many contributions, Bud served as the pastor at Mission Church in Cleveland, TN, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and faith in the community.
Bud is survived by a loving family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Tinsley, and daughter-in-law, Lana; grandson Dustin Tinsley; granddaughter Breana; and great-grandson, Little D.
He is also survived by his loving siblings Norma Floyd, Margaret McKamey, Ola Mae Trentham, Glen Tinsley, and Coy Tinsley. He was a devoted Godparent to three special girls: Dara, Rachel, and Paula.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Juanita Tinsley, his loving wife Oma Jean Tinsley, and several beloved siblings: Mary Jane Bean, Sue Tinsley, Rob Tinsley, Joe Tinsley, Major Tinsley, Ralph Tinsley, Lona Scoggins, and Frank Tinsley.
The family extends special thanks to James Williams, Bud's best friend, whose companionship was a source of joy and support as they spent time repairing lawn equipment and fishing together. They also express gratitude to the extended community of business friends at Ace Hardware, Vassey's Lawn, Ed's Supply, The Town Squire, and the Hyde boys for their kindness and support over the years.
A funeral service to celebrate Bud's life will be held at Companion Funeral Home - The Ridge Sanctuary in Cleveland TN, on February 16, 2025 2:00 pm. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm prior to the service, followed by a graveside service at Earl's Cemetery in McDonald.
