James Rubin May

March 26, 1928 — December 5, 2020

James R. “Jim” May of Cleveland passed away at a local hospital on December 5, 2020.

He was Vice President of Hall Chevrolet and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and Korea.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Hall May; parents, William Henry may and Nellie Bullard May; son, James R. May, Jr.; brother, Robert Henry May; and sister, Carol Spence.

He is survived by his brother and sisters, Bill May of Maryville, Joy (Bo) Renner, Betty Lawson, Linda Taylor, Margaret McClary of Cleveland, Gracie (Jim) McGuffin of S.C., Martha Sommers of Kansas, Mary Jenkins of VA; brother-in-law Jack (Ollie) Hall of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public service, interment will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.

Companion Funeral Home will be in charge of these arrangements.
