James Powers Campbell

James Powers Campbell, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee passed into the arms of Jesus on February 21, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

James was known for his love of the Lord, his family, fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and the Tennessee Volunteers. He was born in Meigs County on August 19, 1935. He was married to Patsy Sims Campbell, and they raised two boys, Stacy, and Kevin. He served in the US Marine Corps and retired from Dupont in 1995. Anyone who knew him knows he loved God, his family, fishing on the lake, the Atlanta Braves, and the Tennessee Volunteers.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Campbell; his parents, William and Erma Campbell; and his siblings: Margaret (Kenneth) Grubb, Cecil Campbell, Wendell Campbell, Willa Maye (Fred) Ozment, and Denny Campbell.

He is survived by his sons: Stacy (Brenda) Campbell of Flowery Branch, GA, Kevin Campbell, and Allison Campbell of Cleveland, Tennessee; his grandchildren: Elizabeth Campbell, Jordan (Stephanie) Campbell, Kaleb Campbell, Abbigail Campbell; great grandchildren: Alessandra and Audrey Campbell; brother, Edwin Campbell, sisters-in-law: Jean Campbell and Lois Campbell; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Judy Hooper.

A graveside service for James is scheduled for Friday, February 25, at 11am, at Lee Cemetery in McDonald. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
