Obituary
James “Paul” Holt, 83, a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 24th, 2013 surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Cleveland on September 20th, 1929 a son of the late Ernest and Dovie Holt. He was of the Church of God faith. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army having faithfully served his country during the Korean War. His lifelong career and passion was building racing engines and he was also was a very dominant figure in the local race car arena. Paul also enjoyed riding motorcycles in his earlier years and rode for the Factory Harley Davidson Team.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Jo Holt and a second wife Wanda Bryant Holt, two sisters Bonnie Boles and Lola Mae Wooten.
Paul leaves behind to cherish his memory one son J. P. Holt and wife Judy, three daughters Debbie Carden, Carrie Jo Holt and Paula Garner and husband Billy, three step children Mitzi DeLay, Tony DeLay (Anne) and Anna Williams (Robby), eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren several nieces, nephews numerous other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Lee University Church Street Annex Sanctuary (the old First Baptist Church) located at 340 Church Street in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Will Dixson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Doug Lenderman, Rick Hilton, Monty Morrow, Ernie Boles, Jeff Masingale and Cory Holt serving as pallbearers. The committal service will conclude with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday afternoon March 26th, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
