James N. Lane, 66, a resident of Cleveland, TN went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 21st, 2014 at his home. James was born on July 22nd, 1948 the first child of James Carl "Laneo" Lane and Therese L. "Rita" Kaufmann. He followed his father in service to his country serving from 1965 until 1971 in the United States Army. Two of those years were spent in Germany the home land of his mother and her family. Before his honorable discharge from the Army he volunteered for a tour in Vietnam because of the love for his country. He was a Christian giving his life to Jesus years ago, but had battled many demons from his tour in Vietnam. James had a tender heart & loved his many old friends unconditionally.

He is preceded in death by his father James Carl "Laneo" Lane.

James leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother Therese "Rita" Lane Walker, one sister Rosemary Woodall and her husband Jim of Charleston, TN, aunt and uncle Frieda & George Hopkins of Greensboro, NC, and Mary Muench of Eltmann, Germany and many cousins both in the United States and Germany. He also leaves to mourn his passing the family of friends he often called "brothers".

A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday night, November 25th, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Herbert Conley officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 5:00 PM on Tuesday evening until the 7:00 PM service time.

The committal service and interment will take place on Wednesday morning, November 26th, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Disable American Veterans fund in James's memory.
