James Leonard "Spanky" Spurgeon Iii

James Leonard “Spanky” Spurgeon III, 33, a resident of Sweetwater, TN went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2020. He was born on December 20, 1986 to James Leonard Spurgeon Jr. “Spunky” and Dottie Spurgeon.
Spanky was a one of a kind who always had a smile on his face and could make anyone laugh. He was loved by many.
In addition to her parents, he leaves behind his daughter Karlie Mae, sisters Amanda Akens (Dustin) and Julia Spurgeon, grandparents James & Ellen Spurgeon and Dorothy Plemons, nieces and nephews Isaish Akens, Jacob Akens, Laura Willett, Emma Spurgeon, Blake Hustell and Olivia Spurgeon. Spanky is also survived by his best friend Justin Torbett along with many aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, September 3, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S. White Street in Athens, TN.
A funeral service is planned for 3:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
