James Lee Bates, 36, of Decatur, TN passed away Wednesday March 24th 2021 at Star Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN. Survivors include father, Ricky Bates of Decatur, mother, Pamela Bates of Chattanooga, step mother Vickey Bates of Decatur, brothers, Dwight Bates of Georgia, Nicholas Trueblood of Chattanooga, Matt Cain Cleveland, and Charles Bates of Hixson, sister Amanda Eckert of Riceville, uncle Terry Burgess of Decatur, sister in law Teresa Bates of Hixson, brother in law Kenneth Wright of Riceville, and several nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service will be held Monday, March 29th at Companion Funeral Home in Athens, TN.
