James Kenneth Thearp

James Kenneth “Jimmy” Thearp, 79, a lifelong resident of Niota, TN moved to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, July 3, 2022 from his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Niota on October 17, 1942 a son of the late L.T. “Jack” & Ethel Thearp. Jimmy was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was retired from Thomas & Betts and he and his family ran the family farm for many years. Jimmy enjoyed collecting antiques and buying and selling them in his spare time. He also enjoyed fishing, an avid UT football fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers Jackie Thearp, Albert “Tubb” Thearp and Leroy Thearp.
Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Stella Small Thearp, one son Kenny Thearp, two grandsons Andrew Thearp (Rachael) and Tyler Thearp, two great grandsons Joshua & Brian Thearp, one brother Troy Thearp (Linda), three sisters Phyllis Bembas (Larry), June Latham (Tommy) and Gwen Pitts (Tim), numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
A service celebrating his life is planned for Wednesday evening, July 6, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 1799 County Road 250 in Niota, TN with the Reverend Martin Bowlin and the Reverend Bill Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.
The interment and committal service will take place on Thursday morning, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
