James Furrate

James E. Furrate, only known as Skipper, to his friends and family, age 67, transitioned peacefully in his home April 11th in Hixson, Tennessee.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, survived by four siblings and two children that reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Skipper succumbed to a 3-year journey with colon cancer. The love of his life, step daughter, work family and mountain bike family walked beside him until the end.

He was a competitive athlete. He enjoyed triathlons, golf, and mountain biking. His greatest love was coaching the youth mountain biking team, and riding the trails with his life partner and trail dogs. Harley and Bella.

Skipper had an amazing celebration of his life with his work family when he retired from his employment in late 2023. At Skipper's request, no other services will be held.

Skipper lived his life well, bringing joy and smiles to every life he touched.
