James Brown, age 79 of Cleveland , departed this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Born on March 6, 1943 to the late James Kelley, Jr. and Fannie Joann Stewart Brown, he was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County and was retired after 35 years from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department. In addition to his service to our local community, he served his country in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Isiah Jay Thompson.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jennifer Evans (Jeff) and Joanna McDermott(Jeremy); grandchildren, Jeni Davis(Steven), Katy Thompson, and Mychaela Massengill; great-grandchildren, Coraline, Charles, Tristan, Allison, Gio, Valentina, Gabriella, and Rafael; sister, Mary Ellen Paul(Calvin) as well as several extended family and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for James Franklin Brown will be held at 4p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 from the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home with Pastor Guinn Green officiating. Interment will follow in New Friendship Cemetery with Honors provided by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends from 3p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
